Legislative Assistant

The Legislative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support for the firm’s lobbyists.

 Duties include:

 ·        Tracking and maintaining online legislation database

·        Tracking and calendaring legislative, budgetary and administrative hearings

·        Reviewing and delivering position letters, floor alerts and related materials

·        Tracking, maintaining and facilitating political fundraising efforts and client contributions

·        Supporting all aspects of lobbyist communication with clients, legislators/their staff

·        Managing requests and inquiries from clients, legislators/their staff and other third parties

·        Maintaining email distribution lists and legislative and executive branch staff rosters

·        Performing other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

 ·        Familiarity with the legislative process, committee structure and calendar

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·        Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments

·        Ability to get along in a small, team-oriented office

·        Proficiency with Capitol Track, as well as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

·        Strong attention to detail

·        Combination of education and professional experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job

 Desirable Qualifications:

 ·        Practical experience in a lobbying firm, governmental agency or legislative office

·        Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field

·        Experience working in a fast-paced office
